Maycomb is located in Alabama. It is a small town, everyone knows each other or related to Atticus. Atticus is the only lawyer in the courthouse. Atticus has two children, Jem and Scout. They have one more female figure, Calpernia, who is African American.
2.) What do you learn about Dill’s character?
He is tiny like a pickle. He is bragging about his knowing to read and write. He visits Alabama and is obnoxious.
3.) What, briefly, has happened to Arthur “Boo” Radley?
Boo got mixed up with the wrong people. Dad told the people that he will just lock him in the basement. Probably 15 years in the basement. They tell about Boo stabbing his father with scissors. People think he is crazy, for example, the scissors. Dad is dead, but brothers come in from Florida, to watch over him.
4.) Why does the Radley place fascinate Scout, Jem and Dill?
The Radley house fascinates them because it makes them curious. The windows are locked up and no one comes in or out. They want to know what is really happening. Also that there is a crazy person living in the basement.

It is being told through the view of Scout, the little girl. She is telling about what happened in her childhood, and what happened.

Walter is a poor country folk. He takes pride in being poor and being from the countryside. He goes to Scout and Jem's home to eat. Maybe they don't always have food, maybe he lives in poverty, maybe his parents aren't always there.
3.) How does Atticus treat Walter? What does this show about Atticus’ character? What does it show about Walter?
He treats him like a man. Atticus treats everyone with respect. Atticus talks to everyone with professionalism. Atticus respects everyone for being individual. He does not look at anyone based on the color of their skin, heritage, or financial problem. Walter does not care about what other people think of him. He will do whatever he wants.
4.) Contrast the difference in the way Jem and Scout treat Walter. What does this show about the difference between Jem and Scout at this point in the novel?
He defends Walter from other people. He gets this from his dad, and treats everyone with respect. Scout beats Walter up because she got in trouble because of Walter. Jem understands the problems of people.
5.) Atticus says that you never really understand a person “until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”. What does this mean? Is it an easy thing for Scout to learn? Why or why not?
This means that people must live the same way same lifestyle as another person to have that experience. Children think that different people are the same and just like her.

She is a close friend to Scout and Jem. She is primarily the role model for Scout, whatever she decides is thinking of Maudie. She

Chapter 7

He senses that Boo Radley is watching them. Boo is sending twine and soap toys to see how the kids will react.
3.) Does Jem still fear the gifts in the tree? Give reasons for your answer.
He is fearing the chewing gum, soap, and the twine. The kids would use the twine to go fishing in the river. He sends woap to let
them know that Boo knows. He sends chewing gum for candy for the kids.
4.) When the children plan to send a letter to the person who leaves the gifts, they are prevented. How does this happen? Why does it, and why might he do so?
They want to protect the children from Boo, he could be a crazy person. They are also protecting Boo from doing something
crazy.They want him to stay indoors and stay away form more trouble and gossip.
